At least two suspected NSCN cadres were neutralized during a fierce gunbattle that broke out between security forces and the rebels at Kulagaon near New Kheti village under Khonsa police station in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh. The site of the encounter is around 45 km from Khonsa, the headquarters of Tirap. Reports also suggest that a civilian was injured during the firing.

Security forces have also recovered one AK 56 rifle with 1 magazine and 25 live rounds, one US-made rifle with 59 live rounds, and a China-made pistol with 2 magazines and 3 live rounds.

As per latest inputs, security forces also arrested one suspected NSCN cadre. The encounter broke out around 10 AM today after a team comprising 6 Assam Rifles and Arunachal Pradesh police personnel launched an operation based on specific inputs on the presence of movement of militants in the area.

It has been learnt that this is the same group of militants involved in the Kapu encounter of March 6.

Meanwhile, reinforcements have been called in and search operations is underway.
