Tehon Kangkong handed over a .32 mm Pistol with Magazine and 05 rounds of live ammunition

In a significant development, a self styled Sergeant Major of NSCN-R, Tehon Kangkong, laid down his arms on August 5 before the 11 Assam Rifles based at Miao in the Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

On August 3, Kangkong decided to surrender his weapons in the presence of Colonel Vivek Tripathi, Sena Medal, Commandant of the 11 Assam Rifles, Ibom Tao (ADC Miao), Inspector L. Kamcham, and his father and wife. The collective presence symbolized a shared mission for peace and unity, transcending boundaries and affiliations.

The success of this operation can be attributed to the pivotal role played by intelligence sources, which led to the identification of Tehon Kangkong’s location near Gara Line, Miao. Responding swiftly, the 11 Assam Rifles launched a special operation to encourage the cadre to surrender peacefully.

Kangkong handed over a .32 mm pistol with magazine and 05 rounds of live ammunition.
