In a significant development in Arunachal Pradesh, a special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) court has handed down life imprisonment to a man who sexually assaulted and impregnated his minor stepdaughter.

The case came to light when a written complaint was filed on March 23 last year in the Jenging police station in Upper Siang by the district child protection unit. Following this complaint, the Jenging police promptly initiated an investigation and successfully apprehended the accused.

The accused individual was found guilty under both the POCSO Act and the Indian Penal Code, as confirmed by a lawyer familiar with the case.

The court, located in the East Siang district, also announced a 20-year jail term to the man in a separate case where he had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl when he was out on bail.
