In a shocking incident, a hostel warden of a government residential school of Arunachal Pradesh had raped 6 boarders and molested 15 male and female boarders. The children were 6 to 14 years old.

The incidents took place between 2019 and 2022 but the fact that the warden sexually assaulted as many as 21 boarders came to light now.

The accused, Yumken Bagra, the 33-year-old former hostel warden who served at the Government Residential School in Karo, located under Piri Circle in Shi Yomi district of Arunachal Pradesh from 2019 to 2022, was arrested after two victims lodged FIR at the Tato Police Station in the Shi Yomi District back in November 2022. But a Yupia court granted bail to Bagra.

Meanwhile, the case was handed over to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by SP Rohit Rajbir Singh. Further investigation revealed that it was not just two children but 19 more who were subjected to sexual assault.

Briefing the media today, SP Singh has appealed to anyone else who was molested or sexually assaulted by Bagra to come forward and meet the police.

The SIT believes that there may be more victims who are yet to come forward and talk about the trauma that they had gone through. “Their cooperation will be vital in building a comprehensive case against the accused,” SP Singh said.
