Arunachal CM distributes land compensation worth Rs 219.18 cr to 96 families affected by Tato-II Hydroelectric Project

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday distributed cheques worth Rs 219.18 crore as land compensation to as many as 96 families of Shi-Yomi district who are affected by the construction of the 700 MW Tato II hydroelectric project over Siyom river.

The compensation distribution event assures fair compensation to those directly impacted by the Tato-II project, while also serving as a symbol of the state’s commitment to equitable development, the CM said.

Taking to X, Chief Minister Khandu said that the project being executed by North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) will provide great economic opportunities to the people of Shi-Yomi district.

Chief Minister Khandu said that along with Tato II project, the work on 240 MW Heo and 186 MW Tato I projects will commence this year.

“Feeling so happy to have distributed cheque worth Rs 219.18 crore today as land compensation to 96 families of Shi Yomi district, for construction of 700 MW Tato II hydroelectric project over Siyom river.The project being executed by @NEEPCOLtd will provide great economic opportunities to people of Shi Yomi district. Along with Tato II project, the work on 240 MW Heo and 186 MW Tato I projects will commence this year. Grateful for the presence of Hon Speaker Shri @pasang_sonaJi, DC Shi Yomi Shri Liyi Bagra and NEEPCO officials on the occasion,” CM Khandu posted on X.

It may be mentioned here that in August last year, the State government had signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoAs) with three central PSUs–the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) Ltd, North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO), and Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Ltd for developing 12 hydropower projects with a combined capacity of 11,517 MW to be developed in Subansiri, Dibang and Siang basins.
