After one year in Pakistan jail, Assam fisherman returns home

Assam’s Simanta Saikia, who was lodged in a Pakistan jail for over a year, returned to the state on Thursday. Saikia, a resident of Merapani in Golaghat distirct was arrested
Assam’s Simanta Saikia, who was lodged in a Pakistan jail for over a year, returned to the state on Thursday.
Saikia, a resident of Merapani in Golaghat distirct was arrested by the Maritime Security Agency of Pakistan along with 7 other fishermen from India for allegedly violating Pakistani territorial waters in October 2018.
All the fishermen, including Saikia were working for a Gujarat-based company and were lodged in a jail in Karachi.
