Congress has accused the BJP led Assam government of posing hurdles to its Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has sent out a clear warning to Congress that if any laws are broken in the name of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, then the Government will have to take action against those responsible.
CM Sarma said that he has previously cautioned the Congress not to take the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra via Guwahati city and to take any other alternate route. However, if the Congress is determined to take the rally through the city, Assam government will not make any security arrangements for them and that he will file a case of violation and take appropriate action against them after the Lok Sabha election.
Meanwhile, Congress has accused the BJP led Assam government of posing hurdles to its Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra that entered the state on Thursday.
Congress General Secretary in Charge of Communications, Jairam Ramesh, addressing a press conference today said that the Himanta Biswa Sarma led Assam government is making all efforts to ‘ensure that Bharat Jodo Yatra is not a success’.
Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has started on 14 January from Thoubal in Manipur and will end on 20 March 2024 in Mumbai spanning east-west of India.
The Assam phase of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra began from Sivasgar district, where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi adressed a public rally in Amguri in Sivasagar.
He also addressed a public rally in Jorhat’s Mariani. The leaders will halt for the night today at Mariani.
Tomorrow, commencing the sixth day of the Yatra, Rahul Gandhi is slated to visit Majuli, where the team will be visiting the various Sattras.
Rahul Gandhi and his team will then move towards Dhemaji and spend the night at Gogamukh, ending day 6 of the yatra.
On January 20, the yatra will move towards Lakhimpur. In Lakhimpur, the Congress leader will take part in road shows in Lakhimpur’s Laluk, Harmoti and Naoboicha.
The yatra will then move towards Arunachal Pradesh the following day.
The yatra will also pass through Biswanath, Sonitpur, and Nagaon districts of Assam, where the senior Congress leader is scheduled to take part in different road shows.
It may be mentioned here that in Assam, the yatra will cover a distance of around 833 kilometres, passing through 17 districts in 8 days.
