Speaking to Northeast Live, the Joint Secretary of the ABVP Sangeeta Devi said that the rally was organised as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav programme commemorating 75 years of India’s Independence.
She further said that the strength and size of the tricolour were reduced following the COVID-19 guidelines issued by Government.
Republic Day is celebrated on January 26 every year to remember the day when the Constitution of India came into effect after India gained independence after a very long freedom struggle.
A salute of 21 guns and the unfurling of the Indian National Flag by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first president of India heralded the historic birth of the Indian Republic on that day.
Thereafter 26th of January was decreed a national holiday and was recognised as the Republic Day of India. Ever since the historic day, January 26 is celebrated with festivities and patriotic fervor all around the country.
Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.
Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is an embodiment of all that is progressive about India’s socio-cultural, political and economic identity.
The official journey of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” commenced on 12th March 2021 starting its 75-week countdown to our 75th anniversary of Independence.
