4 more test positive for COVID-19 in Assam, all attended Nizamuddin congregation in Delhi

In a span of less than 24 hours, Assam has reported as many as 5 COVID-19 positive cases.

While, a man in Karimganj was tested positive for the deadly virus yesterday, another 4 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday.

Notably, all 5 persons, who have been tested positive for COVID-19 had attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi. This was informed by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Among the 4 who tested positive, three are from Jagiroad while one hails from Nalbari.

In a crucial briefing this afternoon, Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that  as many as 547 people were in and around the Nizamuddin area recently, with over 410 attending the Markaz, while 134 others did not attend the congregation but were in the area during the event.

Meanwhile, 347 people who attended Nizamuddin Jamaat have returned to the state. Of these 230 have been identified and 196 samples have been collected.

However, as many as 117 of those who had attended the Markaz have not been traced yet.
