Mob threw stones and engaged in other violent activities in an attempt to breach the SP's office, said police
Two people were killed and over 40 injured in a clash with the security forces as a mob of 300-400 people attacked the office of Churachandpur SP and the mini secretariat complex that houses the DC’s office and residence nearby, last night.
Authorities have temporarily suspended mobile internet service in Churachandpur for next 5 days as a preventive measure.
The incident happened hours after head constable of the district police, Siamlalpaul was suspended for allegedly taking a selfie in a bunker of “armed miscreants” and “village defence volunteers” atop a hill.
The mob pelted stones, vandalised the SP office and torched several vehicles parked inside the SP and DC offices and engaged in other violent activities.
The Manipur police twitted about the incident.
In response, the security forces, including the Rapid Action Force (RAF), used tear gas shells to control the situation, police said.

In view of volatile law and order situation in Churachandpur district and for reasons cited above, State government decided to temporarily suspension/curbing of mobile internet/data services, internet/data services through VPN in the whole revenue jurisdiction of Churachandpur District for 5 (five) day as preventive and precautionary measure,” the Internet suspension order said.
