Kewekhape Therie, the president of Nagaland Congress, has several obstacles in the upcoming elections because his party failed to win any seats in the state’s 2018 Assembly elections. In the upcoming election, Therie is contesting from the Dimapur-I constituency against H Tovihoto Ayemi (sitting MLA) of the BJP. The last three Assembly elections have ended in defeat for the 69-year-old senior lawmaker. One of the 43 candidates for the Congress who won the 1998 Assembly elections without opposition was Therie, a former Pfutsero MLA.
