Arunachal: Day 2 of North East India Fashion Week: Magnificent designs of local artisans, weavers steals the show

Displaying their skills of handlooms and handicrafts, over 30 local designers and weavers showcased mesmerising designs on the second day of the sixth edition of North East India Fashion Week being held at the Koro Happa River Island in Jollang, Arunachal Pradesh.
The 3-day fashion event with the theme ‘The Artisans Movement’ that showcased the talent of Divyangjan designers from Northeast was commenced on November 18. The event will conclude today.
The fashion extravaganza is being organized by One Arunachal, a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) which aims to focus and preserve the traditional and cultural unity of Arunachal Pradesh.
The event is unique as it gives opportunity to local artisans and weavers as well as talented designers to display their skills of handlooms and handicrafts at local and global level.
This initiative not only boosts employability of the artisans but also ensures improved livelihoods and establishes a brand presence with global market connections.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu, MLA and chief patron of the event Techi Kaso, Tripura minister Bikash Debbarma among other distinguished guests, attended the inaugural ceremony of the festival.
Joram Tat, chairman of One Arunachal said that through the event, the NGO strive to identify artisan role models, boost self-esteem within the artisan community, advocate for their skills, and offer a platform to showcase their unique talents.
He said that the objectives of this project are to improve employability, guarantee better living conditions, elevate labor, and build a brand with international market connections.
