World’s longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas enters Assam

Assam Tourism minister Jayanta Mallabaruah stated that it's a historic day for Assam as these 28 foreign tourists will witness the cultural and social dynamics of Assam through river cruise
The world’s longest river cruise MV Ganga Vilas docked at Dhubri this afternoon after crossing the Indo-Bangladesh border.
A total of 28 foreign tourists cruising at the ship were carried to the port by another small ship, MV Pratima, from near the port in Indian Inland waters. They were welcomed by Minister Jayantamalla Barua on behalf of the Government of Assam.
Assam Tourism minister Jayanta Mallabaruah stated that it’s a historic day for Assam as these 28 foreign tourists will witness the cultural and social dynamics of Assam through river cruise experience.
He also added that Assam has huge prospect of river tourism as the Brahmaputra river connects various noted tourist destinations such as Kaziranga National Park, Majuli, Kamakhaya temple etc. and people can see the holistic beauty of Assam with river tourism.
“It is a proud moment for Assam that foreign tourists are coming to this part of the country to witness our state’s pristine beauty and gather a delightful experience”, he further stated.
Noteworthy, the foreign tourists, enjoyed Koch Rajbongshi folk dances, Goalparia folk songs etc. The tourists also admired the exhibition of goods displayed by various self-help groups and later indulged in local Assamese cuisine.
The tourists will be visiting Gurudwara Teg Bahadur Sahebji and Victoria Park in Dhubri town.The tourists will board the MV Ganga Vilas and leave for Goalpara at around 10 pm tomorrow.
It needs to be mentioned that Ganga Vilas, which left Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on January 13, will cover a distance of 3,200 km and reach Dibrugarh on 1st March, 2023.
