Tripura: Man dies after being struck by lightning in Gomati

The storm wreaked havoc across various parts of Tripura, causing disruptions in power supply.

In an unfortunate incident, a person died after being struck by lightning during a storm in Tripura’s Gomati district on Sunday morning.
The incident took place in Rajnagar area of Udaipur in the district.

The victim, identified as Shyamal Debnath, aged 48, was fatally struck by lightning while collecting latex in a rubber garden, a routine activity for him.

Several bystanders rushed to help Debnath and promptly transported him to the Gomati district hospital.
However, despite their efforts, the attending doctor pronounced him brought dead.

The storm wreaked havoc across various parts of Tripura, causing disruptions in electricity services.

The impact was particularly severe in the capital city of Agartala, where electric poles and wires were damaged.

Snappped wires and collapsed poles were seen in several areas leading to disruption in power supply.

The electricity department has initiated restoration efforts, working diligently to address the widespread disruptions and restore power to the affected areas.
