Tripura BJP Accused of Institutionalising Corruption Over 7 Years, DYFI-TYF Hit Streets Demanding Accountability

The youth organisations vowed to intensify their movement until accountability is established.

In a fierce display of dissent, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the Tribal Youth Federation (TYF) launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP-led government in Tripura, accusing it of systematically institutionalising corruption over the past 7 years.

The DYFI and the TYF on Monday staged a massive protest rally in Agartala levelling this accusation.

The protest, which began in Agartala city center, witnessed significant participation of youth activists chanting slogans against the BJP-led government.

The protesters alleged that corruption has now become deeply entrenched in the state’s governance structure, with irregularities being exposed even in crucial departments under Chief Minister Manik Saha, including the Home, Health, and Public Works Department (PWD).

Speaking to Northeast Live, Palash Bhaumik, DYFI state president said, “Corruption has taken a terrible form in Tripura over the last 7 years under BJP rule. It has seeped into every sector be it health, education, panchayats, or even the police department. It’s not that corruption cases are not being exposed, yet no action is being taken. That is why DYFI and TYF have decided to raise our voices and fight against it.”

Echoing similar concerns, DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb said, “In the last 7 years, the BJP government has systematically institutionalised corruption in Tripura. From Panchayats to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), corruption cases have surfaced involving ruling party leaders. These are not mere allegations but proven facts now.”

The protesters further demanded that the government take stringent action against those involved in corruption and ensure that public funds are utilised for the welfare of the people.

The youth organisations vowed to intensify their movement until accountability is established.
