They have been booked under Section 12 of the Tripura Gambling Act and are scheduled to be produced before the court today.

In a major crackdown on illegal gambling, Tripura police arrested 5 persons involved in illegal betting and gambling, locally known as ‘teer khela’ from the bordering Camper Bazaar area on Monday.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a team of police conducted a swift operation, dismantling what they suspected to be part of a larger gambling network, said Bijoy Das, Officer-in-Charge of AD Nagar Police Station.

Das said that the arrested individuals were caught with gambling-related documents and cash during the operation.

They have been booked under Section 12 of the Tripura Gambling Act and are scheduled to be produced before the court today.

“We have recovered significant evidence related to gambling during the raid. Strict action will be taken as per the law,” Das said.

He also issued a stern warning to those engaged in illegal betting, gambling, and drug trafficking, asserting that police operations against such activities will continue relentlessly.

The arrest comes amid growing concerns over the rise of illegal gambling activities in the region, prompting law enforcement agencies to tighten their vigilance along the bordering areas.
