Tripura: Political blamegame over rape incidents

Tripura Police dismissed allegations of BJP involvement in the rape incidents & stated no evidence has been found to support such claims.

The Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee has lashed out at the ruling dispensation for alleged lawlessness and rising incidents of crimes against women in the state.

Briefing newspersons, Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman alleged that around 13 incidents of rape are being reported every month and accused the state government of inaction, apathy on the entire matter.
Sudip Roy Barman also targetted CM Manik Saha over the issue and even alleged a BJP-hand behind the incidents of rape.

Meanwhile a political blamegame has erupted in Tripura over the alleged incidents of rape with Minister Sushanta Chowdhury hitting back at Sudip Roy Barman over his statements and claiming that the law and order situation has vastly improved under the BJP-IPFT rule.

Meanwhile Tipra Motha Supremo Pradyot Kishore Deb Barma also weighed in on the alleged incidents of crimes against women and expressed hope that none of the perpretrators will be spared.

On the other hand, the Tripura Police has dismissed allegations of BJP involvement in the incidents of rape and stated that no evidence has been found to support such claims. Police further informed that around 7-8 persons have been arrested so far and urged eye witnesses, if any, to come forward and help the police with the investigation process.
