Himanta Biswa Sarma: Ready to talk with Tipra Motha but won’t talk of Greater Tipraland

CM Sarma said that BJP is ready to talk about all issues but no division of the state would be allowed

Assam Chief Minister and NEDA convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday said that the BJP is ready to talk with Tipra Motha and resolve the grievances of the tribal people but the saffron party will not talk about Greater Tipraland as the BJP will not allow any division of Tripura.

“Tipra Motha raised certain issues regarding the welfare of the tribal people. Without dividing the state of Tripura we are ready to sit down with them, we want to talk with them, and we want to resolve the grievances of tribal people but we cannot talk of Greater Tipraland. Tripura will remain united. Within the greater Tripura whatever need to be talked and addressed, both central government and state government will be ready” CM Sarma said.

CM Sarma who is on his first visit to Tripura after the BJP’s big win in the state for a second consecutive term, expressed his gratitude to the people of Tripura.

“This was a great victory, reaffirmation of faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We owe gratitude to the great people of Tripura” CM Sarma said.

Speaking on the recent post-poll violence in Tripura, CM Sarma said that the Tripura government is looking at the situation.

“Tripura government is looking at it. And I’m sure that situation will be normal. Whoever wins or loses we should be one. In democracy, there should not be post-poll violence.” CM Sarma added.

At least eight people were injured in a post-poll violence in Tripura on Friday reported from Sepahijala and Khowai districts. Chief Minister Manik Saha today hold a meet with the high officials at Sepahijala & Khowai districts and has directed to take necessary steps to deal with any political violence in post-poll situation.

CM Sarma also informed that the oath taking ceremony of the Chief Minister and other cabinet Ministers of Meghalaya and Nagaland will take place on 7th March and Tripura on 8th March. PM Modi has been invited to attend the ceremony, CM Sarma added.
