The incident where viral social media posts show a Tripura BJP MLA watching porn during the assembly session has triggered a political storm in the state. The Opposition has slammed the action of the BJP MLA and has sought stern disciplinary action against the erring public representative.

And yesterday night, in Tripura in all the social media, it has gone viral. It is being publicized widely. Very bad reactions have come from the common society. It is completely illegal.”

Terming the BJP MLA’s action as an act of offence, Pabitra Kar demanded that the BJP MLA must be sacked. Kar said,”As far as I know, I was the deputy speaker in the TLA. Withour any permission mobile phone should not be used in the floor of the Assembly. It is an offence. But he not only used it, but he is seeing illegal video, which is harmful for the society. It is the duty of the Speaker, that he (the BJP MLA) should be sacked.

Besides, the CPI-M leader also demanded, “proper inquiry should be done from their party (BJP) as well as from the Speaker.”

On the other hand, Congress leader and former MLA Ashish Kumar Saha, termed the entire incident as shameful and demanded stern action against the BJP MLA. He said,”it is shameful that he (BJP MLA) was involved in wrongdoings inside the Legislative assembly, which has already gone viral in social media. Stern action must be initiated.”

Saha also demanded action by the Speaker and batted for the BJP MLA’s suspension.

Meanwhile, Speaker Biswabandhu Sen feigned ignorance about the matter and refused to make any comment.

When sought his response, the Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker said,”Actually I don’t know anything. I can’t say. The matter which I don’t know, than how can I pass comments. I have no information about this matter. I can’t say anything until I recieve a complaint from any side, either from any political party or from the public. I don’t know anything what is shown in social media. After hearing from one of my friend, from a media or a channel or a journalist, I can’t pass any comment.”

Earlier, the TIPRA Motha too had decried the role of the BJP MLA who was caught watching porn inside the Legislative Assembly. TIPRA Motha MLA and Leader of Opposition Animesh Debbarma reacting on the matter had said,“There is something called ethicalness . People made you their representative. Being a responsible person as an MLA should we watch porn movies inside the assembly house? We are observing the entire situation and waiting to see how the ruling BJP would react on this and what action they take against their MLA.”

The TIPRA Motha also demanded that the BJP MLA must be suspended and such an action must be taken to ensure that the MLA do not return to the House for the at least next 6 years.

The TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Debbarma also stated it to be a shameful act and urged strict actions against him so that all politicians learn a lesson. Taking to Twitter, Debbarma wrote, “Party has commented and made the views very clear! It’s shameful and action must be taken so that this becomes a lesson for all politicians. This has shamed us as a state and reflects the state in poor light .”
