Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who is on a 3-day visit to Sikkim, inspected the proposed rail link between Sivok and Rangpo that connects the state of Sikkim with the rest of the country on Sunday. The railway minister has instructed the officials to make it a gateway to Sikkim. The Railway Ministry is also planning to extend the Sevoke-Rangpo Railway Project to Gangtok and Nathula Pass (the Indo-China Border), which will play a vital role in meeting the defence requirements.
