Sikkim Power Dept to Cut Power if Bills Not Paid in Time

This initiative aims to improve the state's electricity supply and promote energy consumption.
Sikkim Power Department Advisor Sanjit Kharel on Monday directed the power department to closely monitor private companies and recover outstanding dues.
During the meeting, Kharel stated that the department is all set to take strict action against those who delay or fail to pay their electricity bills.
In the meeting, Kharel also decided that if Ministers, legislators, and high-ranking officials those who do not pay their bills on time, their electricity will be directly to cut off.
Kharel has given strict instructions to the department to closely monitor private companies and collect any outstanding dues.
However, the general public has been granted an extension until the upcoming Dashain festival to pay their pending bills.
This decision has been taken by the department to ensure timely revenue collection, maintain continuous electricity supply, reduce debt accumulation, enhance consumer convenience, and improve the efficiency of electricity distribution.
