Sikkim: Former Cong leader Bharat Basnet to join CAP tomorrow

Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Sikkim, former president of Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee, Bharat Basnet will join newly floated Citizen Action Party (CAP) tomorrow.
Basnet will join CAP at a programme of the party in Pakyong.
Hailing from Ranipol, Gangtok, Basnet joined politics between 1985-86.
In 2009 assembly election, he contested from Arithang constituency on Congress ticket, however he lost.
He had also contested in Lok Sabha elections 2019, but was unsuccessful, and he resigned from Congress later in 2020.
He was also the former president of Sikkimey Nagarik Samaj (SNS),a non-political pressure group.
