Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will present the Budget for 2025-26 on the first day of the session

Budget Session of Tripura: The Budget session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly is set to commence on March 21, announced Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy. With seven sittings, this session is going to be the longest one in 15 years.

Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy will present the Budget for 2025-26 for the state on the first day of the session.

He stated that special provisions for the middle class and backward communities will be there in the state Budget, aligning with the central Budget’s relief measures.

On Wednesday following the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee in which Speaker Biswabandhu Sen Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ratanlal Nath, Opposition Leader Jitendra Chaudhary, other leaders of the ruling and Congress were present, speaking to North East Live, Singha Roy hinted that no new tax would be introduced in the upcoming state Budget.

He emphasized that Tripura has witnessed a nine percent growth in tax collection, the highest in the Northeast region and the third-highest in the country.

The Finance Minister attributed this growth primarily to GST collections, highlighting it as a positive indicator of the state’s progress toward self-sufficiency.

He asserted that the state government remains committed to fiscal prudence while ensuring welfare measures for its citizens.

The seven days Budget Session of Tripura is likely to conclude on April 1. With seven sittings, this session will be the state’s longest Assembly session in the last 15 years.

With the Budget session approaching, expectations are high regarding the government’s strategies for economic development and social welfare, particularly for the middle-class and marginalized communities.
