Naga Issue: PAC to hold consultations with civil society and Naga nationalist groups after Lok Sabha polls

This was informed by Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio while he was addressing a rally in support of NDA Lok Sabha candidate Chumben Murry
Just days ahead of the elections for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland, Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in what can be termed as a big assurance said, that the government will actively pursue the Naga political issue once the parliamentary elections are over.
CM Rio specifically said that the Nagaland government constituted Political Affairs Committee (PAC) will hold consutltations with the civil society and the Naga nationalist groups after the Lok Sabha elections.
Addressing a rally in support of NDA consensus candidate Chumben Murry (NDPP) for the Nagaland Lok Sabha seat, CM Rio also affirmed that a solution to the decades old political issue is possible under the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Nagaland Chief Minister also lauded the decisive leadership of PM Modi for taking the issue forward step by step.
In his speech, CM Rio said, “For Naga political issue, the earlier governments could not do much, but under PDA, Vajpayee ji (former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee) and PM Narendra Modi has taken the Naga issue to another level in terms of signing the Framework Agreement on August 3, 2015 and the Agreed Position with the NNPGs on November 17, 2017. Why is there an Opposition-less government, why all the 60 legislators are together, why the political parties including the independents are together? It is because the voice of the people, the desire of the Naga people want solution to the Naga political issue. And that’s why we are united and with the signing of the Framework Agreement as well as the Agreed Position, that (solution) will be possible only under NDA government led by BJP and PM Narendra Modi.
That’s how after the election our Political Affairs Committee will pursue with the civil societies with the Naga nationalist groups so that we can brings things to a logical conclusion.
In these 27 years of negotiations a lot has been achieved but the final step to conclude is yet to come. We believe that our consensus PDA candidate Dr Chumben, the lone member who will be able to speak out the voice in the Parliament about the Naga issue and resolving for an early solution.”
Terming PM Modi as a big hearted leader, CM Rio said that the BJP has never ignored the sentiments of minor groups or political parties (regional in character) who represents the aspirations and hopes of the people, especially representing the minorities in the nation.
Substantiating this Neiphiu Rio said, “I see a large hearted leadership in PM Narendra Modi. The NDA government led by the BJP is having alliance with minor parties, small parties in 18 states in the country. I came to learn from the headquarter that 57 political parties are having alliance with BJP. That shows that they have concern for the minoritie, though the parties do not have MLAs or even MPs. The partnership giving, extending hands to the minority and the minority parties is well appreciated and that exhibits the secularism and inclusive approach in the biggest democratic country in the world.
Particularly in the Northeast the BJP is extending support like in Nagaland it is supporting the NDPP candidate, a regional party, respecting the regional and Naga identity. It is highly appreciated. Likewise you have also supported NPF candidate in Outer Manipur, though NPF is a small party in Manipur. That sends a huge message and as NPF is supporting the government, taking part in governance.
Likewise your support to NPP (Meghalaya) and AGP (Assam) in other states. THat shows that the BJP has a large heart, and having alliance with small parties and minorities also. So if there is any suppression of the minorities or any other thing, the BJP and its leadership, PM Narendra Modi, with the alliance will address such issues.”
“We are priviledged to work under PM Narendra Modi, who is a visionary leader, who is also large hearted and centric on developmental activities,” Rio further said.
