Nagaland: Hornbill Carnival Parade 2024 Dazzles Kohima with Cultural Splendor, International Flair

The Hornbill Carnival Parade is a part of the Hornbill Festival 2024.

Kohima buzzed with excitement on Saturday evening as the ‘Hornbill Carnival Parade 2024’ turned the city streets into a vibrant tapestry of culture and celebration.

Organized by the Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) in collaboration with the Nagaland government and the Department of Tourism, the parade commenced at Dzuyiekese and concluded at Razhu Point, featuring a vibrant lineup of approximately 46 participants and contingents showcasing the diverse cultural heritage and traditions of Nagaland.

From the rhythmic beats of brass bands to dazzling costumes, skateboarders, and colourful pageants, the event brought together a lively mix of tradition and modern entertainment, drawing participants from diverse communities and creating an unforgettable spectacle of unity and pride.

Among the highlights of the parade were cosplayers, Miss Nagaland 2024 pageant winners and achievers, flash mob dancers, skateboarders, cyclists, public carriers, the Assam Rifles Bagpiper band, and the Nagaland Police Brass Band.

Apart from 18 Naga tribes, other contingents who joined the parade include; Gorkha, Tibetan community, Kabui, Sikkim, Hindu Kalyan Sameti, Punjabi Bhangra and Muslims.

Consul General of the Kingdom of Bhutan in Guwahati, Jigme Thinlye Namgyal graced the event as the chief guest, adding international significance to the occasion.

The Hornbill Carnival Parade is a part of the Hornbill Festival 2024.

Today is the 8th day of the 25th Edition of the Hornbill Festival which commenced on December 1, 2024. The event will conclude on December 10, 2024.
