Non-participation of 7 tribes has made an impact on Hornbill Festival, says Temjen Imna

The non-participation of the 7 tribes of Eastern Nagaland in the ongoing Hornbill Festival has made an impact. This is what Nagaland BJP President Temjen Imna Along said while speaking to Northeast Live as he graced the 10 day Festival of Festivals. Along added that the 7 Eastern Tribes are being missed.

According to Temjen Imna Along that the issue of the Eastern Naga People’s Organisation or the ENPO is completely separate from the traditional and cultural aspect connected to the Hornbill Festival, of which the 17 tribes of Nagaland are an integral part.

Along insisted that the emotional bond of all the Nagas as one entity must be maintained besides pursuing for the inclusiveness of all the people of Nagaland.

Asked what would be the role of the BJP as far as the ENPO’s demand for a Frontier Nagaland is concerned, Temjen Imna Along maintained that whatever is decided by the central leaders will be backed by the Nagaland BJP. Along further conveyed his best wishes to the ENPO talk team in view of it’s meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

It may be mentioned that the ENPO and other frontal organizations representing the Eastern Part of Nagaland had decided to abstain from participating in the Hornbill Festival over non-fulfilment of their demand for separate statehood or Frontier Nagaland.
