Mizoram EC deletes names of 6232 names of Bru voters from voters’ list

The Bru voters’ names were deleted from Mamit, Dampa and Hachhek assembly constituencies.
The Mizoram Election Commission has deleted names of 6,232 names of Bru voters from the voters’ list.
The Bru voters whose names have been deleted have now settled in Tripura.

As per inputs, sources in the Mizoram-Tripura-Bangladesh bordering Mamit district deputy commissioner’s election branch said that all the 4,950 Bru voters names were deleted from the electoral rolls.
Kolasib district officials said that 948 names of Bru voters, who have settled parmanently in Tripura have been deleted from the electoral rolls in Kolasib, Serlui and Tuirial assembly constituencies while south Mizoram’s Lunglei district officials said that 334 names of Bru voters have been deleted from the electoral rolls in Lunglei South, Thorang and West Tuipui assembly seats.
With the draft electoral roll is to be published on August 2 in the ongoing special summary revision of electoral roll in poll-bound Mizoram, the officials were to meet a deadline on deletion of Bru voters.
The final publication of the electoral roll in the current revision is schduled to be published on October 4.
