CM N Biren Singh urged all the CMs of the region to unite and establish a robust mechanism to fight the drug cartel operating in the region
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh has expressed deep concern over the increase in the number of illicit drug seizures in Mizoram recently and has urged CMs of the region to unite against the drug menace and the cartel operating in the region.
Taking to twitter, CM Singh has supported the Mizoram government’s efforts to combat the drug menace in the state along the international border.
“I am deeply concerned by the alarming increase in illicit drug seizures within Mizoram in recent times. Having personally experienced the challenges associated with drug trafficking in my own state, I wholeheartedly support the efforts of the Mizoram Government in combating these heinous activities, particularly concentrated along our porous international borders,” CM N Biren Singh wrote on twitter.
Keeping in view of the ongoing violence in Manipur that has a link to illegal narcotics trade and state governments ‘War on Drugs’ campaign, Chief Minister Biren Singh urged all the Chief Ministers of the region to unite and establish a robust mechanism to fight the drug mafias operating in the region.
“In this critical juncture, as the North Eastern states bear the brunt of protecting the entire nation from the menace of drugs, I fervently urge all Chief Ministers of the region to unite and establish a robust mechanism that will enable us to join forces in this noble ‘War on Drugs,” the Chief Minister further wrote.
The Chief Minister believed that by working collectively, the states could safeguard communities from the devastating consequences of drug trafficking.
“By working together collectively, we can effectively address this grave issue and safeguard our communities from the devastating consequences of drug trafficking,” CM N Biren Singh added.
The North-eastern states of India are vulnerable to drug trafficking due to the porous international border that it shares with Myanmar and Bangladesh.
