Tura Violence: Meghalaya BJP vice president Bernard Marak, 15 other BJP leaders including BJP Mahila Morcha workers named in FIR

In a big development, Meghalaya BJP vice president Bernard Marak has been named in the FIR in connection with the Tura Violence.
Bernard Marak, who is the MDC of Garo Hills Autonomous District Council, or GHADC, who earlier on the day spoke to Northeast Live targeted Chief Minister Conrad Sangma over the violence in Tura.
Bernard Marak alleged that it is Conrad Sangma who is trying to give political colour to the Tura violence.
Earlier, TMC leader Richard M. Marak was also named in the FIR.
Total 46 persons, including, 11 BJP leaders, 5 BJP Mahila Morcha workers, 18 TMC members and 3 Ex-GNLA members have been named in the FIR.
The Meghalaya police have so far arrested 37 people (till 9.30 pm on July 26) in connection with the violence outside the Chief Minister’s secretariat in Tura on July 24.
In the violence, at least 21 government and private vehicles were damaged, out of which two were completely burned and two were partially burned.
“The damaged vehicles include the cascade of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Hon’ble MLA of 43-Williamnagar AC. Deputy Commissioner and other Govt. servants,” the FIR read.
The mob also caused damage to many window panes and doors of the Mini Secretariat building by throwing big stones, bricks, and bottles.
More than 100 chairs used during peaceful protests over the last two weeks were also damaged, and the temporary pandal was set on fire.
The FIR further stated, “Credible source information suggests that it was an attempt to murder the Hon’ble Chief Minister, MLA, Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Executive Magistrates, and other government servants on duty.
An angry mob of approximately 500 anti-social elements attacked and gheraoed Chief Minister Conrad Sangma’s Tura office on July 24, when the talks between the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya and the protesting NGOs were going on.
CM Sangma met the members of A’chik Conscious Holistically Integrated Krima (ACHIK), who have been protesting and sitting on hunger strike for 14 days now, demanding Tura be declared the winter capital and also a review of the Reservation Policy and the Roster System.
The mob pelted stones and attacked his office while he was inside in a meeting with his cabinet colleague and PHE minister, Marcuise N. Marak.
The Police resorted to firing tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. At least 18 Meghalaya Police, LIGV, and CRPF personnel sustained serious injuries.
