Leader of Opposition in Meghalaya, Mukul Sangma on Thursday reiterated that he would quit politics if the government can prove that the 32 lakh metric tons of coal is still lying in the coal depots across the state.
Mukul further alleged that the over 30 lakh metric tons of already extracted coal have been replaced by freshly mined coal.
Sangma said that the government must take his statement seriously as it comes from the leader of the opposition in the House.

This statement comes as the budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly has started today.
Speaking of the five Congress MLAs acting as part of the MDA government, Mukul Sangma said that he would have preferred to have them in the opposition and work unitedly as a constructive opposition.
He also said here that the Conrad Sangma-led government is trying to shrink the opposition in Meghalaya
