Meghalaya: Pine Mount school lacks basic infra

Premier educational institute in Meghalaya lacks basic infra including toilets. CM Conrad Sangma takes stock of situation.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today inspected the condition of the prestigious Pine Mount School.
Accompanied by Education minister Lahkmen Rymbui and Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar D besides other senior officials reviewed the situation from ground zero.
The move by the Chief Minister Sangma came after a series of protests by the teaching staff and students.
Briefing newspersons, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said that school lacks in basic amenities including toilets. Not only this, the condition of the hostels in the school are also not upto the mark, Sangma added.
The Meghalaya Chief Minsiter also added that necessary steps will be taken to repair the hostel buildings and enhance the infrastructure including toilets.
Sangma added that before the next academic year starts they would want construction work on the new hostel building to start.
Meanwhile, necessary arrangements will be made for the the alternative accomodation of the boarders of the hostel, the Chief Minister added.
