Is some extra-political affair brewing in Meghalaya?
Within days of Meghalaya TMC leader Mukul Sangma claiming that Minister in Conrad Sangma Government and senior BJP leader Alexander Laloo Hek had met him and discussed toppling the Conrad government, the veteran Meghalaya BJP leader has flatly refused having any such discussions with Mukul Sangma.
Talking to the media today, minister AL Hek said in his defence, “We never had a discussion against the MDA-II government nor about toppling it down. The question of having an official talk does not arise because we did not even have a casual talk regarding this.”
“After the NPP-led MDA-II government was formed earlier in April this year, we barely met only during the assembly sessions and one day during a tea break Dr. Mukul Sangma asked me why do not I join TMC, and I asked him why he do not join BJP. This is the only discussion we had,” he added.
He further said that BJP will never work with Congress or TMC, but, if both parties merge with the BJP, then it would be a different story.
He also maintained that the door of the BJP is always open for parties who want to merge with it.
It may be mentioned here that Dr. Mukul Sangma claimed that Hek expressed his dissatisfaction with the results of the most recent assembly elections and asked TMC to take steps to prevent the NPP-led MDA government from regaining power. He said that Hek was plotting to topple the NPP-led MDA-II government.
