7 nurses from 6 NE states conferred with National Florence Nightingale award

From Manipur, Irom Chandrabala Devi and Dimkhanman Hangshing have received the award

As many as seven nurses from six Northeastern states–Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Sikkim, Manipur and Meghalaya, were conferred with the prestigious National Florence Nightingale Award for 2022 & 2023 today.

The awards were given away by President of India, Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi today. The National Florence Nightingale Award is given to nurses in recognition for their exemplary contribution to strengthening healthcare delivery.

From Manipur, Irom Chandrabala Devi and Dimkhanman Hangshing have received the award.

Awardees from other Northeastern states are–Namita Kalita of Assam, Reliance Pyrngap of Meghalaya, Atodo Linggi of Arunachal Pradesh, C. Zopari of Mizoram, and Ambika Pradhan of Sikkim.

The National Florence Nightingale Award was instituted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India in the year 1973 as a mark of recognition for the meritorious services rendered by the nurses and nursing professionals to the society.

Mizoram’s C.Zopari graduated from the School of Nursing, Civil Hospital Aizawl.

She started working as a Staff Nurse in 1986 and was posted in Buarpui primary health care (PHC), Chhingchhip PHC, District Hospital Siaha and Civil Hospital Aizawl.

She was promoted to Ward Superintendent in August 2016. She served as a Nurse at District Hospital Kolasib and Civil Hospital Aizawl for 37 years.

C. Zopari has saved several lives during her work in these Health Centres.
