The DC said that freedom and independence would be a far cry unless women are safe in the district.
Deputy Commissioner of Senapati District in Manipur, Mamoni Doley has called for action to ensure the safety and progress of women and girls in the state.
Delivering a compelling speech on the occasion of Independence Day at Sanyi Dahrii Sports Complex, Khabung Karong DC Doley said that a truly civilized society cannot exist where women are not safe.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted disturbing reports of gross violations of women’s safety and pledged that both the district administration and local police would intensify efforts to monitor and address these issues.
DC Doley called upon the general public to actively contribute to creating a secure environment and said that law enforcement alone cannot address these issues effectively. Everyone, including the general public, must work together to make all spaces safe and secure.
She urged women to report any incidents of violence to the police or relevant authorities, stressing that tolerating such behaviour is unacceptable.
The DC stated that freedom and Independence would be a far cry unless women are safe in the district.
DC Doley also called for action for district-wide development and assured to work together with the district CSOs to improve the district.
Stating that Independence Day is an opportunity to reflect on the values of democracy, liberty and justice, the Senapati DC appealed to the younger generations to contribute positively to the nation, uphold its values and work towards its progress and development.
DC Doley also praised the efforts of community leaders, religious leaders, CSO leaders, and the general public to preserve the spirit of fraternity and unity among people and appealed to all communities in the district to maintain peace and harmony.
