Manipur unrest: Emas meet Governor, demand spl Assembly Session in a week

Governor Anusiya Uikey spoke to the Chief Secretary for holding the Assembly Session within this Friday, the Emas said

Representatives of Khwairamband Ema Keithel Joint Co-ordinating Committee for Peace today met Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey and urged upon her to convene a special session of the Manipur Assembly within next week.

“We met the Governor just a while back. We requested her to call for a special Assembly session before next Friday. She called the Chief Secretary and directed him to look into convening the Assembly session at the earliest. We also spoke to her about the National Highway No 2 and also requested her to remove Assam Rifles from Manipur,” Co-convenor of the Peace Committee, Dhaneshwari said.

Meanwhile in Churachandpur, the Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights also staged a massive protest demanding justice for the victims who were paraded naked as well as other women who have been subjected to acts of violence during the ongoing unrest in the state.
