Instant disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as MP without following due procedures of law demeans democracy, said Manipur Congress
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has slammed the ruling BJP over the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP and called it killing of democracy.
Speaking to media, MPCC president K. Meghachandra said that the conviction of Rahul Gandhi by Surat District Court in defamation case is bizarre and seemingly “pre-planned”.
“The Surat court verdict against the defamation case against Rahul Gandi is not democratic and baseless charges that has been made against him. In Rahul Gandhi’s speech he has not mentioned about any particular community. He only voiced against Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi and Narendra Modi . He has mentioned some people who has taken away money from the Government of India through fraud,” said K. Meghachandra.
He stated that the instant disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as MP without following due procedures of law demeans democracy.
He alleged, “the BJP in collusion with the Surat court and others ensure disqualification to silence him in the Parliament.
“Modi is trying to crush all opposition parties specialy Congress leader Rahul Gandhi that is why this conviction by Surat court is well planned by BJP and PM Narendra Modi. And again instantly on the same day of the verdict of the court, disqualification had happened. We condemned the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as LS MP. It is killing of the democracy and creating crony capitalism in India. We are against crony capitalism,” said K Meghachandra.
He further said that Rahul Gandhi was punished for speaking the truth.
Meanwhile, the Youth Congress also took out a rally against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi and conviction, which it termed as unreasonable.
