After the heavy oil spill incident from Leimakhong Power Station, Imphal West on January 10, another similar oil spill incident was reported from Iril river at Dolaithabi village in Imphal East.

After receiving information from villagers, the Officer-in-Charge of Sagolmang Police Station rushed to the spot and ordered the closing down of the Dolaithabi dam to stop further spreading of the oil to other parts of the state. A team of experts are on its way to investigate the matter.

On January 10, leakage of heavy fuel was reported from Manipur’s Leimakhong Power Station in Imphal West. The leakage led to spilling of the discharge into the streams passing through Kantosabal and Sekmai where people in the areas are dependent on the stream water for their livelihood.
