Manipur, Assam documentaries make it to IFFI

Saikhom Ratan’s ‘Beyond Blast’ from Manipur and Kripal Kalita’s ‘Hatibondhu’ from Assam, were the only 2 who could make the cut.

It is indeed a proud moment for Manipur and Assam, as two documentary films from both the states have been selected as part of the prestigious Indian Panorama Official Selection for the 53rd International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2022.

The Film Festival will be held from November 20 to 28 in Goa.

Out of 242 non-feature films that competed for the national selection, only 20 made it to the list.

Saikhom Ratan’s ‘Beyond Blast’ from Manipur and Kripal Kalita’s ‘Hatibondhu’ from Assam, were the only two who could make the cut.

Manipuri documentary film ‘Beyond Blast’ is based on Konthoujam Maikel Meitei, a bomb blast victim.

Before the Indian Panorama selection ‘Beyond Blast’ won several awards at different prestigious film festivals.

Meanwhile, directed by Kripal Kalita, ‘Hati Bondhu’ is a documentary film depicting the man-elephant conflict.

The documentary focuses on the effects and ways to avoid or resolve the conflict between Man and Elephant.

The Documentary is a result of able guidance from renowned social activist Shri Pradip Kumar Bhuyan and 3 years of hard work from the team behind it.

The documentary is directed by reputed director Shri Kripal Kalita, who is known for his work in the Film “Breeze”, Internationally.
