Former Meghalaya Home Minister Robert G Lyngdoh popularly known as Bah Bob breathed his last this morning. Lyngdoh passed away at around 11.40 am at his residence today. He was 62.


The widely respected RG Lyngdoh is among the tallest politicians in Meghalaya who had friends cutting across party lines. 
Soon after the news of his demise broke out, friends and well wishers started thronging the residence of the former minister to pay their respects.


East Shillong legislator and sister of late RG Lyngdoh, Ampareen Lyngdoh informed that the family was yet to take a call on the details of the last rites and that a family meeting would be held to confirm the same. Ampareen Lyngdoh informed that RG Lyngdoh’s last rites will be conducted by Sunday.

Late RG Lyngdoh is known as the people’s leader.


Lyngdoh showed his political charisma soon after being elected to the Assembly in 1998. He was elevated as Meghalaya Home Minister at a time when the Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council militant outfit was highly active. 
Robert G Lyngdoh was elected MLA twice and has held several cabinet portfolios including Home and Education. 


He was the Founder Chairman of the Meghalaya Tourism Development Forum, Shillong and was also President, North East Table Tennis Forum and President of Meghalaya Table Tennis Association. A celebrated author, poet, musician and photographer, he has a coffee table book, A Pont of View to his name.

The musician turned -politician had after a gap of 13 years made a political comeback on Sep 16, 2021 when he joined the Congress once again.
