Silchar celebrates 94th Birth Anniversary of Legendary singer Kishore Kumar in a grand way

To commemorate the 94th Birth anniversary of the Legendary singer, composer, and actor, Late Kishore Kumar, thousands of fans in Silchar sang songs in unison in a program at Silchar’s District Sports Association ground on Friday morning.

More than 6,000 participants, both young and old, sang in unison some of the maestro’s melodious tracks under the banner of “Hazar konthe Kishore”, organized by the Kishore Kumar Fans Club and other socio-cultural organisations.

Many artists and dignitaries from West Bengal and Bangladesh also graced the event.

On the occasion, Dipayan Chakraborty, MLA Silchar, thanked the members of the Kishore Kumar fans club for organising the tribute program. He also thanked the school students who took part in the ensemble and said that this is the first time that such a large gathering has paid a single tribute to any singer.

Sujit Das, Secretary of the Kishore Kumar Fans Club, told Northeast Live that since 1987 every year they have been arranging programs to pay their tribute to Kishore Kumar, but today’s event on his 94th birth anniversary is the biggest and most memorable one.

Renowned painter Bacchu Das, who built the Kishore Kumar statue near Circuit House and is also a member of the Kishore Kumar Fans Club, shared his gratitude to the participants.

Kishore Kumar is widely regarded as one of the most influential and dynamic singers in the history of Indian music. He gave his voice to evergreen Bollywood songs like Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, Mere Sapnon Ki Rani, Mere Mehboob Qayamat Hogi, and many others.

Apart from singing, he is a great actor as well, having made his acting debut in Shikari in 1946.
