Sarma said that he will speak more on the matter after Prime Minister Narendra Modi concludes his visit to Assam on February 4

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, today, claimed that the body double used by Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra has been identified.

Briefing media persons in Guwahati, Sarma added that he will address a press conference and speak more on the matter after Prime Minister Narendra Modi concludes his visit to Assam on February 4.

Sarma went on to add that it has now been confirmed that it was Rahul Gandhi’s body double who was cheering the crowd during the yatra however, after the controversy erupted, the body double left from Guwahati without continuing onwards for the next leg of the yatra.

Chief Minister Sarma said, “ We have identified the body double used by Rahul Gandhi during the pad yatra. Once Prime Minister Narendra Modi goes back from Assam I will give a press conference on that. We have confirmed that it was not Rahul who was interacting with the crowd but his body double was. After the controversy the body double has quietly left from Guwahati without accompanying the Congress on the next leg of the yatra in Bengal.”

Sarma made a big claim on January 25 this year, where he cited an article from a news organization asking if Rahul Gandhi was using a body double while interacting with crowds during the Congress’ Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam.

This sparked a furious response from the Congress who posted a photo of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on their official X handle, whose shadow looked like that of billionaire Gautam Adani with the caption “Body Double.” Assam Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi also slammed the Assam Chief Minister and suggested that he should get a medical check up done.
