NH-37 stretch from Silchar to Budha Nagar to be converted into a 4-lane highway

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs 957 crore for the road upgradation project, Assam CM informed

Giving a further push to road development in Assam, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sanctioned Rs 957 crore to convert the NH-37 stretch of road from Silchar to Budha Nagar, a length of 20 kilometres, into a 4-lane national highway.

The news was shared by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his official X handle. Sarma also said that the project, once completed, will augment connectivity between Barak Valley and the States of Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya.

Sarma wrote, “Just received the excellent news that @MORTHIndia has sanctioned ₹957 cr to convert the 20 km long stretch on NH 37 – from Silchar to Budha Nagar- into a 4 lane highway. Once completed, this will augment connectivity between Barak Valley and the States of Mizoram, Manipur, Meghalaya. My immense gratitude to our Government led by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji for its relentless efforts in transforming infrastructure across the North East.”

The Assam Chief Minister had earlier said that 2024 will be a year of big investments and ambitious projects in Assam.
