New Haflong station to be renewed under Amrit Bharat station scheme

A total of 91 stations of NF Railway have been identified under the Amrit Bharat station scheme

As the new Haflong station is set to get a new makeover, the people of Haflong are skeptical about the condition of the road to the station, which is in dilapidated condition.

Speaking to Northeast Live, the auto drivers who ferry the train passengers said it’s a good news for the people of Dima Hasao, but at the same time, the approach road and other passenger amenities should also be considered.

The locals expressed that the road right from Ranima Statue to New Haflong Station is at worst consition. The roads were affected during May–June 2022, however, even after repeated complaints, no repair was done.

The People are forced to travel through the dilapidated road, risking their lives, to reach the station, the locals said.

Moreover, the street lights from Ranima Statue to New Haflong have also not been functioning for a long time.

“Only renewing the station is not enough. The roads need to be repaired,” one of the locals expressed.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stones for the redevelopment of 508 stations across the country, including New Haflong station under the Amrit Bharat Scheme, Tomorrow.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme has been launched recently for the development of Railway stations on Indian Railways.

Under the scheme, 1309 Stations on the Indian Railways have been identified for redevelopment. Out of which, 91 stations have been identified under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).

The foundation stone for the redevelopment of 56 stations under NFR will be laid on August 6.

Out of 56 stations, there are 32 stations in Assam, 03 stations in Tripura, 16 stations in West Bengal, 03 stations in Bihar, and one station each in Nagaland and Meghalaya.

A total of Rs. 5100 crores have been allocated for the redevelopment of 91 stations under NFR. Out of which, 60 crores will be utilized for the redevelopment of these 56 stations.
