Assam: Injured leopard rescued from Khobong Tea Estate, Tinsukia

The leopard was hit by some unknown vehicle while crossing the NH-37 road last night, according to forest department officials

An injured adult leopard was rescued by a team of forest department personnel from Khobong Tea Estate which is close to NH-37 and Talap Forest Range Office in Tinsukia district of Assam.

The team of the forest department officials found the injured leopard lying in the middle of a tea plantation at around 11 am.

According to forest department officials, the leopard was hit by some unknown vehicle while crossing the NH-37 road last night.

Locals first noticed the leopard this morning and informed the Forest Department.

Later, the forest personnel tranquillize the leopard and sent it to Tinsukia’s Guijan Rescue Center of the Wildlife Trust of India for treatment.

It may be mentioned here that leopards and other wildlife animals often venture out into tea gardens or human habitant in search of food.
