In a rare and shocking case, a foetus was found inside the stomach of an eight-month-old baby boy in a private hospital in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

The rare medical condition come to light when a couple from Arunachal Pradesh brought the baby for treatment in the hospital after one side of the baby’s stomach was swollen.

On conducting several tests, the paediatrician found that a foetus had developed inside the baby’s stomach.

Later, a team of six doctors performed surgery and removed the foetus.

What is foetus-in-fetu?

In medical terms, it is called fetus-in-fetu (FIF) is a rare condition that has been defined as one twin being in the other twin’s body.

Such cases rarely occur and only in one out of 10 lakh babies.
