Big Breakthrough: HPC(D) leader Lalminthang Sanate apprehended in joint op by Assam Police, Assam Rifles

SP Cachar Numal Mahatta confirmed that Lalminthang Sanate was involved in many criminal cases like kidnapping, extortion , murders.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, top leader of the proscribed Hmar People’s Convention (Democratic) or HPC(D) was arrested by Assam Police and Assam Rifles in a joint operation today late evening. Sanate was arrested during an operation at Ciripool area under Lakhipur police station in Assam’s Cachar district.

The arrested rebel leader has been identified as 56-year old Lalminthang Sanate. SP Cachar Numal Mahatta confirmed that Lalminthang Sanate was involved in many criminal cases like kidnapping, extortion , murders.

Four .32 mm pistols, and 49 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from Sanate’s possession. As per the police, Sanate and his group was active in areas under Churachandpur district in Manipur and operating in Hmarkullin area. SDPO Lakhipur Dinesh Kumar and team headed the entire operation.
