A woman dairy farmer from Assam has secured a prestigious opportunity to be a part of the esteemed Republic Day parade in New Delhi as a successful dairy farmer. Assam’s Juna Tamuli Barman along with her husband Pranab Kumar Barman hailing from Bhojkuchiapara village in Bajali district have been selected in the 36-member state team.

Juna Tamuli Barman has brought extreme pride to her village by doing wonders in dairy farming and proving that hard work is the key to success. Taking help of Artificial Insemination for cross-breeding under the Swarnadhenu scheme, the family could enhance their financial status and multiplied the number of cows and the overall milk production through hard labour and utmost care, especially by Juna.

The couple started their journey in the dairy sector with a single cow in 2004 following which under the guidance of Veterinary Doctor Hitesh Pathak, they successfully expanded their farm through the process of Artificial Insemination. In a commendable feat, Juna’s cows now produce approximately 210 litres of milk each day.
Sharing her thoughts on the occasion, Juna Tamuli Barman said, “I began with one cow of local breed. There are cattles of different breeds in my farm. They yield 210 ltr of milk everyday. Unemployed youths apart from hunting jobs can easily opt for cattle or goat farming. Our government has rolled out a number of beneficial schemes for us. Unemployed youths can become self-dependent. I started my farm in 2004.”
