Assam: Rhino which strayed outside Kaziranga National Park succumbs to Injuries in Kaliabor

The carcass of the rhino was found on the premises of Kaliabor Manor Resort in Silghat.
In an unfortunate incident, an injured one-horned rhino, which strayed out of the Kaziranga National Park in Assam, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday morning.

As per inputs, for the past three months the injured rhino wandered out of Kaziranga National Park and had been roaming near Silghat Tea Garden for several days.
The rhino was roaming in different places for the past few days. Following which, some locals immediately informed the police and forest officials.
Locals have alleged the forest administration did not take appropriate care and medical treatment for rhino’s injuries and today succumbed to injuries.
However, forest official recovered the carcass and sent for post-mortem examination.
Last month too, an adult rhino was found dead in Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary in Assam’s Morigaon.
According to a preliminary investigation by the forest department, the rhino was suspected to have died due to drowning.
