Assam Police Bust Cyber Crime Gang in Guwahati

Preliminary reports reveal that Das and Chandra used their bank accounts in collusion with other cyber criminals

In a major breakthrough, the Assam Police have dismantled a gang of cyber criminals in Guwahati. The accused have been identified as Babu Das and Anwesh Chandra.

As per reports, both were apprehended for their involvement in laundering ‘black money’ and defrauding common people through cyber attacks.

Reportedly, Babu Das is a resident of the Uzan Bazaar area and Anwesh Chandra is a resident of Dispur Preliminary reports reveal that Das and Chandra used their bank accounts in collusion with other cyber criminals to carry out transactions involving illicit funds. The gang targeted common people, swindling money from their bank accounts.

Earlier this year in January, unknown hackers, possibly operating from Pakistan attempted to hack Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s Facebook account. The attempted breach of the Chief Minister’s Facebook account was informed by the CM himself on social media platform X.
