India’s Northeast is Open for Business and Collaborations with Korea, Korean Business Houses: Assam CM in Seoul.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on a five-day visit to South Korea and Japan, addressed the Advantage Assam 2.0 roadshow in Seoul, highlighting Assam’s potential as a vibrant investment destination. During his speech, he said, “We respect Korea’s remarkable development and strength in manufacturing. Today, we are here in the Republic of Korea to invite industries to collaborate with us.”

The Chief Minister informed that the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment Conclave will be held on February 25 and 26 in Guwahati, with participation from India’s leading industrial houses, including TATA and other major players actively working in Assam. He extended an invitation to Korean industries, stating, “If any Korean industry wishes to collaborate with Indian companies, we will facilitate these partnerships during the conclave. India’s industrial houses are ready to develop the Northeast region, and there will be significant opportunities for collaboration.”

This visit to Seoul is part of a global initiative to attract investors to Assam ahead of the February summit. Sarma’s international efforts include promoting Assam as a hub for investments across sectors such as infrastructure, electronics, aerospace, renewable energy, and tourism.

The roadshow in Seoul follows similar events in Bhutan last month. Sarma is also slated to visit Singapore, which was the first partner country during the inaugural Advantage Assam summit in 2018. Singapore remains a key partner in Assam’s global investment strategy.

Before embarking on this international tour, Sarma held a meeting in New Delhi with ambassadors from 36 countries, presenting Assam as a rising industrial hub. Additionally, his cabinet ministers are conducting roadshows in major global cities, including Dubai, London, and Bangkok, to showcase the state’s opportunities and attract investments.

With an aggressive global outreach strategy and a focus on facilitating partnerships, the Assam government is positioning Advantage Assam 2.0 as a game-changer for the region’s economic growth.
